*Sigh*
My blog has become a glorified “Heat” magazine, where did it all go wrong?
1. Stop writing such long tumblr posts, people are less likely to read them.
2. Cheryl Cole isn’t scantily clad enough in the video for “Fight for this Love”, recommend writing letter to her outlining concerns.
University work is starting to become tedious. Having completed an essay for my american, anally retentive and utterly eccentric italian history lecturer only last week, backed up by a mind blowingly shit social anthropology essay on mcDonalds in Asia, my brain has been successfully cluster-f**ked. But the deluge of work continues.
Danny (the aforementioned american lecturer), reminded us only last thursday that he planned to have a practice exam this wednesday. One question from a choice of 4. But the best part is, he didn’t give us any hints. The questions are drawn from the topics we have gone over in tutorial, but we have had about 8-10 tutorials, and he recommended we prepare all the questions because he doesn’t like people who only prepare a select few. So in laymans terms, we all had to revise the entire course in 4-5 days. *sigh* I am beginning to miss aul Dawson. His smile, his charm, his wit, his over the top and incredibly obvious hints. He was far from the pompous, bohemian and PhD in “Spanish-Soviet relations during the spanish civil war” who is now at the helm of my history studies.
The matter is compacted by the fact I have an ancient history essay for friday on how democratic the roman republic was…fascinating stuff.
I am also beginning to get concerned about my health. I am now quite sure I am on my way to a major heart attack by the time I’m 21. But its not fair, I do everything right and healthy. I exercise twice a day, when I walk out to my car in the morning and back to it in the afternoon, as well as clicking “refresh” on tumblr, twitter and facebook for most of the evening. I smoke cigars instead of cigarettes, take a glass of whiskey when im working instead of a pint of water and eat my 5 portions of fruit and veg a month. But for the mean time I guess my aches and pains etc shall remain a mystery.
Tomorrow I shall be in from 9am to 7pm as I’ve decided to stay in the library for the 5 hours between when my lectures end and when my italian language class starts in the hope of revising the whole italian history course for the practice exam the next day.
Well it’s getting late and I have to get up early tomorrow so, as sherlock holmes would say “Let’s to bed”
P.S
The reason for the title was that I’ve considered quite far in the future writing memoirs. Yes I know you’re all dying to read my memoirs of my exploits from my life up to this point (and they would no doubt blow your mind) but I think I shall wait until slightly later on…maybe when I’m 20…
Found out yesterday “The Armstrong and Miller Show” is coming to the Grand opera House next year.
I am so booking tickets.
“Mein Kampfy Chair: How the Chair Made Me Do It”
Just read an article on the BBC news website about how Hitlers “Mein Kampf” is supposedly selling better than Dan Browns “The Lost Symbol” on the streets of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
Reading the article reminded me of when Jack and I put this picture on Mr Dawsons desk, ah the memories.
The BBC has updated their video and audio coverage of political institutions in that they now come under the collective name of “Democracy Live”. It enables members of the public to watch/listen to live coverage of key debates/committee meetings/speeches in the key political institutions within the UK.
I decided for a laugh to watch the coverage of a very important committee within the Northern ireland assembly, I won’t name which one as it will only concern you.
I noticed a few key problems:
1. Of the 11 people that make up the committee, only four bothered to show up. FOUR!
2. One of the members was eating a pack of minstrels whilst discussion went on around him, even taking time to look in and rummage at the bottom of the pack.
3. They spent the opening 5-10 minutes of the meeting debating whether or not the committee chairperson should send out Xmas cards. IT WAS ACTUALLY DEBATED
4. A decision was made to have the next meeting as a “closed” meeting, i.e no members of the public or media could sit in and watch. The motion was approved, but if only 4 members were present what about the other 7’s opinion’s? Surely they can just boycott the meeting because they didn’t get a say in how it was going to be orchestrated.
*sigh* and we wonder why Stormont gets so easily glued up.
Having been driven mad by a relentless torrent of university related work of late, I feel it is the right time for a “vent”.
Things that make Lindsay smile:
1. The graffiti painted on the shutters of a betting shop on the Ormeau Road which says “Give uz yer monies”.
2. Hearing all the gossip, rumors and stories of what is going on in halls and collaborating with peter to write a soap opera spec script based on these events.
3. When the student union shop has Chicken, Mayo and Sweetcorn sandwiches.
4. Listening to Creedence.
5. New episodes of “The Thick of It” and “The Armstrong and Miller Show” on BBC Iplayer.
6. Running into Steve, for however brief a time, at the bus depot.
Things that make Lindsay frown/curse his f**king head off:
1. Sammy Wilson, Jim Allister and Gerry Kelly on spotlight last night.
2. F**k off bills for car bodywork.
3. Essays on Italian foreign policy/Globalisation and fast food/The Roman Republic.
4. When it rains heavily for about 4-5 days straight.
5. Stephen Nolan *shudder*.
6. Having to read 100 pages of Carlo Levi’s “Christ Stopped at Eboli” in one night.
This is the kind of work I’m making in our painting workshop… It’s a lot redder in real life.
I iz well disturbed. Gives me ur monie fo ma artz!
Hmm quite interesting, almost a painting of the futurist movement with elements of expressionism. Perhaps the sudden and shocking colour contrasts are representative of a contrast within the artist himself, and he was in fact happy as larry whilst painting this wonderful piece.
Would I pay for it? No
Would other people pay for it? Most certainly
Still…its no “Son of Man”
